Purchased this product in May of 2009 for basic residential use. The drill's chuck is very inferior and it takes multiple efforts to align drill bits. When drilling, the chuck often loses its grip and the bit just slips. The latest fiasco is the drill's inability to hold the power pack which simply falls out of the drill and crashes to the floor. Very disappointed with the quality of this product and would not recommend to anyone seeking a basic drill. The flashlight is the best thing about this kit.

I use the Hitachi 18 volt drill/driver every day. I have found that if you secure the chuck with the extra twist to lock it, bits don't fall out from the sudden stop the auto brake does. At first I didn't realize that feature and lost a drill bit down a chimney when it unlocked on me.
Great little light on the belt loop.
I've managed about two years out of two batteries that I rotate daily and have yet to have one die on me so I would say that they are better than average considering it is a full time tool with me.

Maybe I like this so much b/c it replaces a 10 year old porter cable drill driver but we are impressed with the power and battery life combined with the light weight. It is easy to handle and was a great value for the money.

I got this set for just over $100 and all I can say is WOW! I have been using it now for 6 months with no images. I have remodeled parts of my house with it and it has worked wonderfully. Dewalt Batteries cost $90 at Home Depot and this entire setup was just $15 more! To be clear, I have used this item heavily. It even slid off my roof when I was putting on some siding on the 2nd floor and no problems at all. Great kit for the price. Highly recommended.
